Selling on eBay when you come from Vinted: fees, titles and shipping

Updated · 6 min read

Already selling on Vinted and thinking about trying eBay? Since September 2026, selling on eBay is free for private sellers, and the site reaches buyers all over Europe. But you don’t write an eBay listing the way you write a Vinted one.

eBay fees in 2026

  • Private sellers living in the European Economic Area: no more commission on the sale since September 1st, 2026, in every category, including listings that were already live.
  • 150 free listings a month (250 with a shop), then €0.35 per listing. Some promotion options are still paid.
  • On the buyer’s side: just like on Vinted, the buyer pays a protection fee when buying from a private seller registered in France.
  • Business sellers: a commission that depends on the category (roughly 5 to 12%) plus €0.35 per order.

To compare what you actually keep on each site, use our fee and margin calculator (in French).

What’s different from Vinted

  • Buyers search by keyword instead of scrolling a feed. Your title and item specifics do all the work.
  • You set the shipping cost and the carrier yourself, or you buy the label through eBay.
  • Fixed price or auction: for clothing or everyday items, a fixed price with the “Best Offer” option works best. Auctions are mostly for rare items.
  • Buyers abroad: you can open shipping to other European countries, which is worth it for collectibles, tech and sought-after brands.

Writing an eBay title that stands out

Titles are limited to 80 characters, and the title is the first thing the search engine reads. On Vinted, “Ralph Lauren jumper” is enough; on eBay, put in everything a buyer might type:

  1. Brand and model first: “Ralph Lauren half-zip jumper”.
  2. Gender, size, colour, material: “Men’s L navy blue wool”.
  3. Condition if it’s a selling point: “new with tags”.
  4. No filler words (“gorgeous”, “bargain”, “!!!”): they take up room that real keywords need.

Our title generator (in French) builds the 80-character eBay title plus the Vinted, Leboncoin and Beebs versions from the same details.

Filling in item specifics

Below the title, eBay asks for item specifics (brand, size, colour, material, style…). They power the search filters: a listing with no size won’t show up when a buyer filters on “L”. Fill in everything offered, even the optional fields.

Shipping, payment and returns

  • Handling time: promise a dispatch time you can really stick to (1 to 3 business days). Late shipments hurt your seller profile.
  • Payment: eBay collects the money from the buyer and pays it out to your bank account.
  • Returns: a private seller can refuse returns, but the buyer is still protected if the item doesn’t match the listing. Clear photos and well-described flaws prevent most disputes.

Vinted and eBay in one inventory

With OnceAndSold, your Vinted and eBay listings live in the same inventory. You can publish an item that’s already on Vinted to eBay, and as soon as it sells on one site, the other listing is removed automatically. Offers received on eBay are handled from the app (accept, decline, counter), by hand or automatically based on your floor price. The details: selling on several sites without double sales.

eBay’s fees and terms change over time: check the current fee schedule in eBay’s help pages before setting your prices.

Frequently asked questions

Is eBay free for private sellers?

Yes. Since September 1st, 2026, a private seller living in the European Economic Area no longer pays commission when an item sells. The first 150 listings each month are free, then each listing costs €0.35.

How many characters can an eBay title have?

80 characters at most. Include the brand, model, item type, size, colour and condition: those are the words buyers type into the search bar.

Can you sell the same item on Vinted and eBay?

Yes, as long as you remove the other listing as soon as the item sells. A crosslisting tool like OnceAndSold does it automatically.
