Vinted AI photos: worn shots and clean backgrounds, without misleading buyers
Updated · 6 min read
On Vinted, buyers make up their minds on the first photo. A sharp picture on a clean background, ideally with the item being worn, sells faster. AI can help with both, as long as it never shows anything other than the real item.
The basics of a good Vinted photo
Daylight, near a window, no flash: colours stay true.
A plain background: a light wall, a plain sheet, floorboards. Nothing next to the item that draws the eye.
The whole item in the first photo, then the details: brand and size label, fabric, any flaws.
Flaws shown honestly: a hidden stain almost always ends in a dispute.
Portrait format, the way the Vinted app shows photos.
A clean background without a studio
No time to find a tidy spot? When you list or relist on Vinted, OnceAndSold’s New background touch-up cuts out the item and puts it on a real household surface (floorboards, sheet, throw, tiles, stone…), keeping the original light and shadows. You can also add your own surface: photograph your floor, sheet or table straight from above, then pick your backgrounds in Settings → Photos.
A real home background often works better than studio white: the listing looks like it comes from a private seller, not a catalogue. The details: photo touch-ups.
AI worn photos
A worn photo shows the cut and the drape far better than a garment laid flat. The 📸 AI worn photos button in OnceAndSold creates 1 to 3 photos of a person wearing the item, from your real photos: clothing, shoes, a bag or jewellery. Objects (toys, books, decoration…) are refused before any image is made, and nothing is charged.
True to the item: the AI first notes every detail (buttons, text, colours, patterns), then checks every photo it creates. A photo where a detail differs is redone, then dropped after 3 attempts.
The right figure: the person matches the item’s size and gender. An S and an XL don’t look the same when worn.
Your real photos first: AI photos are added after them, with an “AI” badge, and the main photo is always a real one.
An AI photo costs 5 credits, out of the 100 credits every account gets each month. The details: AI worn photos.
What not to do with AI
If what arrives doesn’t match the photos, the buyer can report an issue instead of confirming the order, and a “not as described” claim can end with you refunding them.
Don’t remove a flaw: no retouched stains, bobbles or snags.
Don’t change the colour or the look of the fabric.
Don’t replace your real photos: the buyer must see the actual item, label included.
Check every AI photo before publishing, and delete any you’re not happy with.
Refreshed photos when you relist
Relisting with exactly the same photos can make a listing climb less. Each time you relist, OnceAndSold can refresh the photos without generative AI: an invisible crop, another of your photos as the cover, a new background that keeps the original light (or just a change of colour on a photo taken at an angle). AI worn photos are never reused when relisting. The item stays the same; the listing looks new.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use AI photos on Vinted?
You can add them, as long as they show the real item faithfully and come after your real photos. A photo that hides a flaw or changes the item can lead to a “not as described” claim and a refund.
How do I get a clean or white background for Vinted photos?
Lay the item on a white sheet or board in daylight, near a window. OnceAndSold’s New background touch-up can also put the item on a real household surface, or on a surface you photograph yourself.
How much does an AI worn photo cost?
With OnceAndSold, an AI photo costs 5 credits. Every account gets 100 credits a month, renewed on the 1st, and a photo rejected by the quality check isn’t counted.
